Following the acquisition of one set of lawn bowls for kids from Australia and donation of two sets size 5 from Kenya Bowling federation. Uganda Bowls leadership led by The President Sir Linus Wamanya, General Secretary Mr Reagan Egulwa and team coach Mr Arnold Kizito today Sunday 23,2025 officially launched the leaders training at Ugandan National Hockey stadium Lugogo. The three engaged in 3 hours training which was later joined by dozens of other sports fraternity who applauded and appreciated the game. “We are building from the ground up and Bowls being an inclusive sport, everyone can try theirway to perfection,” said Kizito the Team Coach. “The support from Kenya has been invaluable,and we’re now focused on community outreach, demonstration in schools and universities and player development to prepare a competitive team for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.” Said Wamanya Linus.
The sport of lawn bowls is steadily gaining ground in Uganda, thanks to the determined efforts of the relatively new established Uganda Bowls. Since its recognition by World Bowls in early 2025, the organization has embarked on a mission to introduce, promote, and institutionalize thesport across the country.
Lawn bowls is a core sport at the Common wealth Games, and Uganda Bowls is determined tomake its debut count. With grassroots training, strategic partnerships, and a growing pool of enthusiastic players, the federation is laying the foundation for a historic representation.
