Uganda Bowls is the national sporting organisation responsible for the leadership, development and management of lawn bowls and indoor Bowls in Uganda. Uganda Bowls is a not-for-profit organisation governed by a voluntary board that provides the strategic direction for the sport and the strategies that are implemented by the staff at the national office.

Uganda Bowls is affiliated with World Bowls and Commonwealth Games Uganda where it is a core sport in the Commonwealth Games held every four years.

Uganda Bowls Host Kenya Bowling Federation President

The sport of lawn bowls is steadily gaining ground in Uganda, thanks to the determined efforts of the relatively new established Uganda Bowls. Since its recognition by World Bowls in early 2025, the organization has embarked on a mission to introduce, promote, and institutionalize the sport across the country.

Earlier this week, Uganda Bowls leadership hosted Mrs Sophy Kihuyu, the president of the Kenya Bowling Federation at their Headquarters in Uganda located at - Ivory Mall Bunga Gaba road Kampala Uganda, Sophy offered two hours technical training on how the game is played and rules governing the sports this training was critical for the Uganda bowls leadership as they prepare to roll out the sporting to Ugandans .She generously donated two sets of lawn bowls from KBF as gesture and follow up promise during Uganda Bowls trip to Nairobi. This donation has energized local training efforts, with sessions now actively underway at various identified Greens field in Universities and Government sporting institutions facilities.

“We are building from the ground up and Bowls being an inclusive sport, everyone can try their way to perfection,” said Kizito the Team Coach. “The support from Kenya has been invaluable, and we’re now focused on community outreach, demonstration in schools and universities and player development to prepare a competitive team for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.” Said Wamanya Linus.

Lawn bowls is a core sport at the Commonwealth Games, and Uganda Bowls is determined to make its debut count. With grassroots training, strategic partnerships, and a growing pool of enthusiastic players, the federation is laying the foundation for a historic representation.
